The mission of the Cemetery Department is to bury our loved ones with dignity and honor. A cemetery is a history of people, a perpetual record of yesterday, and a sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering always.
Graceland Cemetery is a 50-acre cemetery located in the western portion of the city on Osborne Boulevard. Graceland is over 100 years old and has over 2,600 burials.
Mound Cemetery is a 55-acre cemetery centrally located at 1147 West Boulevard. Mound Cemetery is the resting area for many notable figures including business leaders who have put Racine on the world map, heroes from the Civil War as well as World Wars I and II, former mayors and political figures. The cemetery began some 2000 years ago when Native Americans buried their dead within 14 mounds on or near the site.
