Chambers, Municipal Court
Hours
M-F 7:30a.m to 4:00p.m
The court is in session on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Truancy is the failure of a student under the age of 18 to attend
school when school is in session. The Racine Municipal Court hears all
allegations of Truancy occurring in the City of Racine or committed by a
student attending a Racine Unified School. Penalties in the area of Truancy can
be imposed not only against the student, but also against the parent.
Most truancy cases are issued by individual officers to students they
find out of school. These are handled much like any other citation. The RUSD
along with the Truancy Committee has a program for identifying students with
regular attendance problems. These students and their parents are summonsed in
to the court, either down at the courtroom or during sessions held in the
schools (shown above).
