Mayor Mason and City Clerk Seek Applicants for Boards and Commissions
New web portal launched to make applying easier and more transparent
City of Racine – Today, Mayor Cory Mason and City Clerk Tara Coolidge launched a new web portal on the City’s website which makes it easier for City residents to apply to serve on a board, commission, or committee. The new web portal also allows residents to see who currently serves, what vacancies exist, when terms expire, helpful contact information, and links to agendas. The portal can be found here: https://cityofracine.org/Boards-and-Commissions//
“What excites me about our new web portal, is that our residents now have one central location where they can see what’s available and apply right away. It is an easier, more transparent process for the public, and hopefully allows me to fill vacancies more efficiently,” continued Mayor Mason.
The City Clerk’s office has spent several months working with other city departments to develop the new web portal. Filling vacancies in the past relied heavily on the Mayor and Clerk’s staff to recruit applicants or for citizens to proactively reach out to the City. The new portal provides easy access for both the public and City officials to fill open positions quickly and efficiently.
“When I was appointed City Clerk, I said one of my goals with to provide more access and transparency to the public. With this project we were able to cut red tape and improve a cumbersome process. I am proud of that,” said City Clerk Tara Coolidge.
“Serving on a board, commission, or committee is a great way to support our community and to help make change. I encourage City residents to look at the portal and apply to serve,” she continued.
If residents have questions about the portal they should call the Office of the City Clerk at 262-636-9171. Again, the portal can be found at: https://cityofracine.org/Boards-and-Commissions/
