Household Bulky Items
Residents will be allowed to place up to 5 eligible bulky items out with their trash each week. Each eligible bulky item placed out for collection must have a City Authorized Sticker attached to it. Any non-eligible bulky items will not be picked up.
Household Bulky Items are oversized items that won’t fit into a solid waste cart when it’s empty, such as furniture, mattresses, box springs or *prepared carpet (cut in lengths less than 4 feet and tied in rolls).
Items not eligible as Household Bulky Items are perishable waste, recyclable materials, yard waste, bagged waste, electronics, appliances, fencing, doors, pallets, paint, tires, toilets, vanities, sinks, kitchen cabinets, countertop, windows, construction waste, car parts or any items where payment is required to drop off at the City of Racine Transfer Station Facility.

Household Bulky Item DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- Garbage Food Waste
- Yard Waste
- Recyclable Materials
- Construction Waste(Siding, Shingles, Household Fixtures, Structural Material, Concrete, Doors, Windows, Pallets Etc.).
- Regulated WasteI.e. Tires, Microwaves, electronics.
- Non-Freon White Goods Such as Washers, Dryers, Stoves, Ranges, Dishwashers and Hot Water Heaters.
- Freon Containing AppliancesSuch as Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioners, dehumidifiers.
Household Bulky Item Disposal Options:
- If you routinely exceed the capacity of the 95-gallon cart and (3) 42 gallon solid waste bags allowed, you may want to purchase an additional 95-gallon cart(s) for $61.25 or recycle cart(s) for $47.25 (tax included) by calling the DPW Field Office at (262) 636-9126 to arrange payment and delivery. There is no charge for collecting solid waste from additional carts.
- For small quantities of excess solid waste that exceed the capacity of your cart and (3) 42 gallon bags, you can hold these materials until the following weeks solid waste collection.
- Sell, Donate, Reuse, or Recycle unwanted items.
- Residential customers may bring bulky wastes to the Racine Transfer Station. Proof of residency is required when items are dropped off.
Cost per bulky item is $25.
